Flagship courses

At AOP we think that everyone should have access to anatomy and post-rehab education. The Flagship courses are where we cultivate a deep understanding of the body in motion rather than just memorizing muscle insertion and origin.

There is an option for everyone from instructors new to anatomy and post-rehab to those who have been teaching a long time and just need a refresher.

The COMPLETE anatomy, biomechanics, and common pathologies Option:

Our COMPLETE anatomy and post-rehab course is our most in depth offer covering the bony anatomy and biomechanics of the spine, upper extremity, pelvis, and lower extremity as well as common pathologies of the corresponding regions. And the best news? The course is fully asynchronous and you have lifetime access! Once you're part of the AOP family, you're in for life ;

After this course students will have a better understanding of basic exercise science principles, how load affects movement, and be able to confidently bridge the gap between research and the studio to create evidence-informed programs that meet clients where their at and bring them closer to their goals.

When students pair the COMPLETE option with 1:1 mentoring they can create a high touch personalized learning experience that helps fill in their knowledge gaps and apply new skills to the studio immediately.

What do you get with the COMPLETE option?

  • 31+Pre recorded lectures and pre-recorded movement application videos
  • 28 movement labs connecting lecture content to studio application
  • Access to the AOP community chat where you can connect with instructors globally

The FOUNDATIONS anatomy and biomechanics option:

The Foundations of anatomy and biomechanics option is for anyone who feels like they want to leverage a deeper understanding of anatomy, biomechanics (the study of how force and load affect the body), and basic exercise science principles in the studio. When we understand how to manipulate these variables we can confidently guide our clients through intentional programming that helps them meet their goals and keeps them moving for a lifetime.

After this course instructors will understand the application and importance of basic exercise science principles like the SAID principle, Wolff's Law & Davis's Law, be able to look at a muscle and understand its basic movement, understand how load affects movement and be able to apply their knowledge to the body immediately.

What do you get with the FOUNDATIONS option?

  • 9 full lectures plus 2 mini lectures
  • Fully asynchronous structure
  • Lifetime access
  • Access to the AOP community chat where you can connect with pilates instructors globally

The FOUNDATIONS of common pathologies option:

The Foundations of common pathologies option is for new and experienced instructors alike! Whether you want to update your knowledge of common pathologies like frozen shoulder and rotator cuff tears or you've suddenly realized you don't know what to do with the injuries that walk through your door thos course will guide you through the pathoanatomy as well as current evidence-informed best practice for exercise, while staying well within the Pilates instructors scope of practice.

What do you get with the FOUNDATIONS option?

  • 6 full lectures plus 2 mini lectures

AOP course FAQs

How is the COMPLETE course structured?

Modules are broken up into body regions: Spine, upper extremity, lower extremity, pelvis, and whole body concepts like joint replacements and working with hypermobility.

Some modules have accompanying movement labs to help you apply concepts presented in lectures to the studio.

How are the FOUNDATIONS courses structured?
The foundations courses are structured similarly to the COMPLETE course: Lecture+ supplemental material broken up into modules focusing on discrete body regions.

Do I have to complete the course in a certain time frame?

No! Once you purchase the course you have access to it forever. The goes for all AOP courses

What if I need more help applying what I learned in any of the AOP courses to the studio?

You can always pair any course with 1:1 mentoring! This is a great way to not only understand how we can bridge the gap between research and practice but also allows you to personalize your AOP course experience and connect with other instructors working in the industry

Are all courses fully asynchronous?

Yes! All AOP courses are fully asynchronous. Everything can be done on your own time!

What if I already took anatomy. How are AOP courses different?

At AOP we focus more on how anatomy can help us better understand movement. So, rather than memorizing origins, insertions, and actions we talk about how muscles move at different joint angles, how two joint muscles work differently than single joint muscles, how we get stronger, etc. We combine this with a basic understanding of exercise science principles and common pathologies seen in Pilates in 31 lectures and supplemental movement labs to give learners a relevant understanding of how anatomy is useful. We go beyond the textbook and make anatomy a living thing.
